Student life doesn’t get much better than the vibrant, bustling, city of Leeds. There are countless things to do that are unique to students of the city.

Today we run you through the 5 things that you must do whilst at University in Leeds.

Hyde Park Picture House

Built in 1914, this picture house has survived two world wars and is still thriving today. It is one of the cosiest venues in the whole of Leeds showing anything from cult classics to the very newest movies. The picture house is also notoriously popular for first dates, so whether you looking to start a romance or just want to see the latest blockbuster, this picturesque, historic cinema has you covered.

Hyde Park

Often referred to as student central, the Hyde Park area is always buzzing with activity in hip cafes, traditional pubs and a huge park. Hyde Park and many of the pubs are located just a stone-throw away from the universities, which turns out to be both a blessing and curse. If you are lucky enough to encounter a sunny day in Leeds, then you will find almost every student sunbathing in the park area, playing sports and just generally socialising – it’s a fantastic atmosphere in the area!

Otley Run

Ah, the infamous Otley Run. It is known up and down the country as the ultimate test of stamina, gut and sheer determination. No, I’m not talking about an Iron Man contest, I’m talking about the biggest pub crawl that there is. Around 16 different pubs, taverns and bars are on the traditional route and are sure to put you up to the test. Dressing up within your group is also a must; people go as pirates, golfers, superheroes and even lamp-shades(!) as well as everything in between. The Otley Run is a must for a Leeds student!

Bakery 164

One of the greatest places to stop off in between lectures for a quick lunch before getting back at it. Bakery 164 is located on the university road of Woodhouse Lane and despite its small size, it serves thousands of hungry students every week. All of the food is freshly made and it offers a very diverse menu ranging from sandwiches with sweet potato and avocado to salmon and rocket. There is no better place for a student to refuel than here!

Brudenell Social Club

If you are into your music and/or cheap drinks, then Brudenell Social Club is the place for you. It is a hub of live music from upcoming artists and bands as well as being a really great place to just chill out and have a few very reasonably priced drinks with your friends. It is not very far from most of the popular student accommodation sites, making it a venue where people come back over and over again.
