5 bars students in Leeds need to visit

Daniel Riley May 08th, 2018

Leeds has a range of student bars, from the city centre to the buzzing student area of Headingley and beyond. Selecting 5 proved to be difficult (considering there are 18 on the Otley Run alone!)

Today we have in store for you everything from speciality beers, to pub grub, to top class cocktail bars. You definitely don’t want to miss this…

The Library

Part of the Social Squirrel brand that has world-class pubs up and down the country, The Library is no exception. Not only is there a huge selection of craft beer, cask ales, cocktails, whatever you fancy available, but most days are also themed in some way. My highest recommendation would be Wing Wednesday, where it is just 25p per chicken wing! So get on the phone to your parents and tell them that you have been to The Library three times this week, they will be extremely proud!

Shooters

With a perfect location right in the heart of Leeds, Shooters is the go-to place for any live sporting event. Whether it be live football, boxing, UFC, you name it, Shooters is bound to have it on. It features two floors with the upper floor also home to free pool tables when you buy a drink! The lively Bierkeller is situated in the basement of Shooters so if your team wins, that is not a bad place to go and celebrate Bavarian style straight after.

Revolution Call Lane

Call Lane is one of the more famous streets in Leeds for its wide range of higher-end cocktail bars and excellent nightlife most nights of the week. Revolution Call Lane is probably the pick of the bunch. A multi-floor venue that is always buzzing. You can take your pick from a constantly changing, eclectic cocktail menu that is sure to cater to your tastes: sweet or sour, old-school or revolutionary. Live DJs on Friday and Saturday nights also turns this place into a sort of high-end club venue. Not one to be missed!

Brewdog Leeds

You know exactly what to expect from this famous craft beer chain, and it never disappoints. A staggering variety of beers and ales with all types of nuance, authenticity and satisfying flavour makes Brewdog the number one place to go to if you really know your beer. The Leeds site also has some nifty features such as videogame zones and exclusive food delivery from BBQ specialists Red’s True BBQ that operate next door. This really is the stuff of dreams!

Be At One

Another top of the range cocktail bar to round off this list, Be At One is top of most people’s list when it comes to special occasions or trying to impress a date. The venue is immaculate, the menu extensive, the workers attentive and the atmosphere electric. Mix this whole concoction with their famous Happy Hour 241 deal and you have yourself a recipe for a great night.
