The University of Leeds is based around a single campus close to the city centre which provides everything students need to get the best out of college life. Most of the university accommodation is within a three mile radius of campus so is easily accessible by bus or on foot. As one of the Russell group of universities, Leeds is committed to supporting students to develop well rounded academic skills, and has four libraries, as well as a comprehensive online catalogue with access to thousands of e-books and journals. As well as top class academic facilities, the city centre campus houses the state of the art ‘Edge’ sports and fitness centre which offers everything from sports pitches to swimming and Pilates classes. The university has two dedicated outdoor centres in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales which can be used by students as a base for hill walking, climbing and mountain biking. The university provides a range of catered and self catered halls of residence and apartments both on and near to campus, making them convenient for lectures as well as getting home easily and safely after a night out. Many have been recently refurbished, making them a comfortable, affordable option. Many students opt to live out after the first year and there are several well established ‘student areas’ that offer reasonably priced rented accommodation, within a short walk or bus ride into campus.
